My name is Michelle Spackman and welcome to my portfolio site!

My interest in art stems all the way back to childhood. My mother is a fine artist, and creativity was always a part of my life as a result. Throughout my early education I delved into every media I could, and discovered that I loved the emerging world of digital art and the technology that comes with it.

I attended college at Kendall College of Art and Design and achieved a BFA with a Major in 2D Animation and a Minor in Digital Imaging. My love of cartoons and animated movies fueled my major choice, and my eagerness to be a part of a team and explore new venues lead me into Graphic Design.

I started my Design career at a company called School Zone Publishing. There, I mostly worked in print design, but was also a part of their animation team, and was also occasionally tasked to do illustrations. From there, I moved on to do packaging design at Magnum Coffee. Unfortunately, I don’t have any work to show from there due to privacy concerns, but I focused mostly on box and bag design for various coffee brands as well as the occasional illustration or animation for their media. After that, I worked at an advertising company connected to Mlive called ACS.

However, after that I made a change and got into art education. I currently assistant teach at a Career Focused Education trade school for High Schoolers in Oakland County. The class is called Visual Imaging and I assist in the educating of Juniors and Seniors in high school in learning various programs including, but not limited to, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, After Effects, Garageband and the occasional other interesting applications while also teaching the fundamentals of design and career ready habits such as good work ethic, attendance, quality and people skills. I also volunteer at the SHAC, a community based non-profit organization in Milford, Michigan, who work to bring art and culture to the local community as well as educate and entertain.

On my free time, I have a unabashed interest in illustrating animals, cartoons, and even fanart. I like to look up tutorials to try new things, and am always learning new technologies and programs.
